Meat is great! Fish is delicious, especially crispy, pan-fried trout cooked over an open fire. You’re camped near a lake, fresh mountain air caresses your cheeks, and your appetite is in overdrive.
But sometimes there is no meat. If you’ve been out of work for a while, you know this. Still, you must eat well if you want to be ready for the next job. So what do you do if there’s no meat?
You can get a complete protein without meat. Here are the foods that do the job.
Any cereal or grain product with any milk product makes a complete protein, such as:
Any legume with either a grain or a milk product makes a complete protein, such as:
Eggs do not quite make a complete protein by themselves. They just need a little help, such as:
Get creative. You are only limited by your imagination. A friend once invited us over for pinto beans and homemade bread. She also had slices of tomato, shredded cheese, chopped onion, pepper rings, and a lovely peach cobbler. Delicious!
One caution—your pets are NOT human with a human digestive system. Your dogs and cats need meat. They can eat fruits, vegetables and grains as well, but they are carnivores, and wishing otherwise won’t make them vegetarians. Without MEAT in their diets, they will go blind.
So take care of your critters with the same care you would take care of yourself. They are part of your family, right? But their needs are different. Care for them as they were created.
And care for yourself as well as your family, knowing that you are in control, not the circumstances.
Go with God, family. Remember: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” Isaiah 54:17
We will see each other in health.
